Flooding receeded – now open!
As the water levels have now slightly dropped, we are back open for business.
A recent stocking saw the introduction of slightly larger fish, mostly in the 3-5lb range.
They are extremely hard fishting in the cold water, so please ensure you are rigged up accordingly.
****** Closed due to flooding********
Due to the currently very high water levels, we will be closed Sunday 25th November for safety reasons. I will update this page if we will be closed any longer.
Great start to summer!
The summer season has started exceptionally well.
High water levels, unsettled weather and good angling have all contributed to a great start to this years summer carp fishing.
A very noticable catch is the fish pictured above. It is one of our younger fish, and growing steadily, now over 31lb. Well done on the capture Simon.
The fish have been fallling for a variety of tactics, b ut stalking in the edge is proving the most productive.
End of season.
The trout fishing season has now come to an end until October.
It has been very hard going for the last few weeks, the stock levels are high but the catch returns have been very low, as has footfall.
The summer carp fishing period is now here, and I’m sure they will play ball a little more. The carp have been moving well and are extremely active.
I will update the news section and our social media pages reguarly with catch reports and goings on at the fishery.
Early June
The lake has been fairly quiet, angler wise, for the last couple of weeks, which is sad to see at this beautiful time of year.
The long grass has encouraged a wealth of flylife to the waters edge, and the fish are still very active.
Due to the very warm water though, the fishing has been harder, but a few anglers have still been doing well.
Surface tactics have been proving the most succesfull.
As always in warmer conditions, we ask you to take extra care if releasing fish.
Please note that the lake will be closed for Trout fishing from dusk on Sat 30th June and will re-open Sat 13th October.
During this time the lake is booked out on an exclusive use basis, so access will not be available.
Update – May 18th
With plenty of rain having fallen and high daytime temperatures, the lake is looking fantastic.
The water levels are high and the water temperatures still fairly low, which is great news for the trout.
I have left the grass and surroundings to grow a little this season to encourage the natural life to flourish, particuarly on the far bank. I have cut in a path all of the way round to make access easy.
I have also been strategically planting a large variety of new trees to help harbour increased fly life.
The last few days have seen some great hatches late evening, with trout seemingly striking all over the lake.
The tiger trout have been moving well with plenty caught this week, including four in a morning to David Woods, well done David.
There are only a few weeks left of the season now, and its prime time for some exciting dry fly fishing.
