Happy New Year

30-12-2010

Regardless of there only being a gap in the ice fit for one fisherman, Jon Steedman, Colin Stuart, and Ron Ball all had a cast today, each landing five rainbows. Most appeared to be the new stock coming in at 2lbs apart a couple Mr Stuart tempted on a Diawl Bach at just over 4lbs.

Colin also made an appearance yesterday after Mike Waring. Both secured five fish each on small Cats Whiskers. Well done all!

The rest of the fishery is showing signs on thawing in that the ice is only 3-4 inches thick rather than the best part of six. It’s rather too early to suggest if the left (north west) side of the fishery will become free to more rods over the next few days as we may be in for another cold blast soon. In any case, we’ll update you when things change.

17th December

While the small area on the north-west side of the lake had been fantastic in the recent freeze, it has almost totally frozen over leaving the lake solid. As always, we’ll keep you updated .

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

With most of Churn Pool under two inches of ice on the weekend of 11th & 12th, it looked like we could all retire in front of the fire or do some shopping. Not to be out-done on Saturday, Colin Stuart once again found a small patch of water and landed five including a 6 1/2 Blue Trout. Hot on his heals was Alan Christopher who winkled out four with a 3 1/2lb Rainbow for dinner. Well done to you both. Arthur Leach also popped another four out on Sunday before a celebration at The Crown.

It may be the case that we, along with every other still-water, we are iced over in whole or in part for the next few weeks. Keep an eye on the site for any updates or give us a call. The site will be updated by 9am if any changes occur.

Weekend of 4th & 5th December (SUNDAY FROZEN)

With the mid section and east corner being ice free, Colin Stuart braved the elements and hooked seven, with four landed. Colin reported the fish were very deep and showed interest in a ‘sunburst’ Damsel and Apps Bloodworm. A gold head orange lure also proved to be a good option.
With Saturday night seeing -4 degrees, the fishery is frozen over again. We’ll report back through the week with any developments including stocking which was delayed last week.
